Weight Bias in Health

The overweight and obese patients often feel stigmatized in healthcare, and the face of stereotypes and prejudices of health care. This stigmatizing experience (also called "bias weight) impair the emotional and physical health of patients. The Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University (ruddcenter.yale.org) this new video released in response to increasingly concerned about weight bias in health care. The video, hosted by celebrities and activist Emme andRudd Center experts like Dr. Rebecca Puhl and Dr. Kelly Brownell used, expert commentary and dramatic presentation to raise awareness of an increase in prejudice and stigma that overweight and obese patients encounter in health care. Equally important is the video a number of practical strategies to help reduce prejudice in their clinical practice and optimization of health services for their overweight and obese patients.
